Pardubice brewery prepared a varied program, which included entertainment, suspense, hilarity, adventure, singing, dancing and of course great dishes. It all began on Saturday, 10.10 at 11.30 am at the brewery courtyard where all guests were welcomed with a stylish welcome drink: a glass of Porter with sweet gingerbread. Then, they all got into an equally stylish Pernštejn bus and together they went to the track to an afternoon race.
At the track, plenty of surprises awaited the participants of celebrations: paddock tours, carriage rides around the racetrack, including an expert description of the various obstacles. Above all, they cheered, made predictions and bet and everyone waited in anticipation the tension for the top race in the afternoon - a special race for the 125th anniversary of the Pardubice Porter. The French Ingrid brown mare ridden by jockey Ondřej Velek won the race in the end. The happy owner of the winner, her coach and riders were then handed over the prize, and of course several luxury packages of Porter for supplying energy after the race by the management of the brewery (Chairman of Pardubický pivovar a.s Ing. Leoš Kvapil and Chairman of the Supervisory Board Ing. Jan Kvasnička)
The guests of the 125th birthday of Pardubice Porter moved from the horse-racing complex back to the brewery, where another surprise awaited them: in the courtyard a tour of antique vehicles - cars and motorcycles - from all corners of the country, both civilian and military. After that came the culture - especially singing, music and film. The first two were provided by the male choir "True Love" out of Masaryk University in Brno and the dulcimer music group Žandár from Prague, however, made up mostly of natives of Moravian Slovakia, which played until the late night hours. The main part of the repertoire of both bodies was of course celebratory songs about beer and it was surprising how many times this drink appeared in the creation of our classics (Smetana) as well as in folk songs. Lovers of moving pictures could watch a feature length documentary in the Wilhelm Salon called Beer and Pardubice, which was made for the Pardubice brewery by the Czech-American director Jan Ch. Novák. Of course it was primarily Porter that was on tap, they tasted brandy called Porterovice and long drinks from Porter, which is loved especially by members of the fair sex. Guests could also taste malt from the special anniversary Porter brew, which was just brewed on 10.10 - the barrels will be ceremonially tapped in May 2016 at the end of the East Bohemian musical summer which takes place in the brewery courtyard. Members of the Racing Association also participated in the Gala evening as guests because Velká pardubická also celebrated its 125th birthday, so the spectacular celebrations were held together.
